On September 24, the Tianmen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau released details of a new energy spent power battery comprehensive utilization project by Hubei Lihe Environmental Technology Co., Ltd.
The project is located in the Tianmen High-Tech Industrial Park, covering an area of 12,687.34 square meters with a total investment of RMB60 million (USD8.96 million). It will be implemented in two phases. Phase I will feature a battery pack dismantling line with an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes of spent lithium iron phosphate battery packs and 5,000 tonnes of ternary lithium battery packs. Phase II will add a cell crushing and sorting line, processing 1,000 tonnes per year of soft-pack spent lithium iron phosphate cells and 29,000 tonnes per year of aluminum-shell spent lithium iron phosphate cells.
The project is expected to produce lithium iron phosphate battery cathode sheets, black mass, copper powder, separators and other products.
