Canterra Minerals has raised the indicated resource at its Lundberg copper-zinc deposit in Newfoundland by 55%, securing the "higher-confidence tonnes" it was aiming for, even though grades declined.
The updated Lundberg resource, which forms part of Canterra's Buchans project, now holds 26.1 million indicated tonnes grading 0.36% copper, 1.31% zinc, 0.56% lead, 5.02 grams silver per tonne, and 0.06 gram gold, the company reported Tuesday. That equates to 94,800 tonnes of copper, 341,600 tonnes of zinc, 146,200 tonnes of lead, 4.2 million ounces of silver, and 51,400 ounces of gold.
An additional 870,000 inferred tonnes grading 0.48% copper, 2.21% zinc, 1.13% lead, 20.87 grams silver, and 0.28 gram gold contain 4,200 tonnes of copper, 19,200 tonnes of zinc, 9,900 tonnes of lead, 580,000 ounces of silver, and 7,800 ounces of gold.
Because of the lower grades, contained metal increased more slowly than tonnage. Indicated contained copper climbed 34% to 94,800 tonnes from 70,500 tonnes, while zinc rose 33% to 341,600 tonnes and lead gained 36% to 146,200 tonnes. Silver increased 37% to 4.2 million ounces, and gold rose 36% to 51,400 ounces.
Copper grade fell 14% from the previous estimate, with zinc also down 14%, lead down 13%, and silver down 12%. Gold grade dropped 14%.
