Sinomine Resource announced that on September 21 (Zambian local time), the mining and ore processing operations at its Kitumba copper project in Zambia's Central Province completed production preparations and officially commenced integrated feed trial production.
The project's current-phase product is copper concentrate. The company will decide whether to sell the copper concentrate externally or retain it as feedstock for the smelting facility, taking into account market conditions for copper concentrate and the construction progress of the smelting project.
As of the announcement date, the smelting project is still under construction, with production preparations or trial production expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by official production in the first quarter of 2027.
