Ukraine's three largest steel mills, which accounted for roughly 90% of the country's steel output, have ceased operations following Russian attacks, the Financial Times reports, according to UNN.
The Financial Times notes that the Zaporizhzhia plant was hit again on Thursday, with two ballistic missiles striking the facility---the fourth attack on the steelworks in less than a month.
The missiles were reportedly aimed specifically at the plant's blast furnaces.
Metinvest and ArcelorMittal have confirmed that the plants, which together produce 90% of Ukraine's steel, are currently idle, the publication adds.
The shutdown of the facilities, which employ more than 15,000 people in total, could have serious consequences and a significant impact on tax revenues, it was also noted.
