China's crude steel output down 3.1% in Jan-Aug

In August 2026, China produced about 67.65 million tonnes of pig iron, down 3.5% YoY, about 74.61 million tonnes of crude steel, down 3.7% YoY, and approximately 114.75 million tonnes of finished steel products, down 5.5% YoY, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
From January to August, pig iron output declined 3.1% YoY to around 563.40 million tonnes, and crude steel production decreased 3.1% YoY to 651.85 million tonnes or so. The output of finished steel products declined 1.7% YoY to around 950.75 million tonnes.
