On September 16, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology issued its energy conservation review opinion on Guangyuan Hongchangsheng Aluminum's 115,000tpy primary aluminum energy-saving, carbon-reduction and emissions-reduction upgrade and renovation project, approving the project's energy conservation report in principle.
The project is a renovation project located in Yuanjiaba Aluminum Industrial Park, Guangyuan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Sichuan Province. It carries a total investment of RMB2 billion (USD298.55 million) and a 10-month construction period.
The project will adopt SY400 pre-baked anode electrolytic cells and supporting technology from Shenyang Aluminum and Magnesium Engineering and Research Institute Company Limited to upgrade the existing production line for energy savings, carbon reduction and emissions reduction. The main construction work includes purchasing 106 SY400 pre-baked anode electrolytic cells and building an electrolysis workshop, anode assembly workshop, central control center and other facilities. Upon completion, primary aluminum capacity will remain unchanged at 115,000 tonnes per year.
