Lanzhou Aluminum held a ceremony on September 12 to mark the ignition and commissioning of its 500 kA No. 2 anode baking furnace at the No. 2 Baking Section of the No. 2 Carbon Plant.
The furnace is key equipment for carbon production at the company's Liancheng production base. It had been in continuous operation for 14 years when a major overhaul began in August 2025.
The overhaul incorporated a range of new processes and materials, systematically optimized the furnace structure, expanded the number of furnace chambers to 58, and widened the material compartments to improve heat distribution inside the furnace. The project was completed 10 days ahead of schedule. Following the upgrade, the furnace has been significantly expanded and can now accommodate the production of anode carbon blocks in multiple specifications.
