Southern Copper' molybdenum output declines in H1 2026

Southern Copper Corporation reported a decline in molybdenum production for both the second quarter and first half of fiscal 2026, citing lower ore grades across its operations.
Q2FY2026 molybdenum output came in at 7,046 tonnes, an 11.0% drop compared with the same period a year earlier. For H1FY2026, production fell 6.7% to 14,562 tonnes.
All four of the company's molybdenum-producing mines recorded lower output. Toquepala saw the steepest decline at 21.9%, followed by Buenavista at 12.4%, La Caridad at 3.5% and Cuajone at 1.4%.
The company attributed the declines primarily to lower ore grades.
