Ukraine saw a 57.3% fall YoY in steel production in August

In August 2026, Ukraine's steelworks reduced their steel output by 57.3% year-on-year, to 277,000 tonnes. This is according to data from the state-owned enterprise Ukrmetallurgprom. Compared with July, the figure fell by 39.4%.
Pig iron production in August stood at 257.1 thousand tonnes, which is 65.6% lower year-on-year and 40.5% lower than the previous month. Production of commercial rolled steel for the period fell by 57.4% year-on-year and 29.6% month-on-month to 269.5 thousand tonnes.
Over the first eight months, steel production in Ukraine fell by 12.5% year-on-year to 4.3 million tonnes, cast iron production by 14.8% year-on-year to 4.35 million tonnes, and rolled steel production by 15.6% – to 3.59 million tonnes.
