Panzhihua aims for 55% vanadium and 45% titanium utilization rates by 2030

Panzhihua targets RMB200 billion (USD29.80 billion) in vanadium titanium steel and materials output by 2030.
The Sichuan city aims to raise vanadium and titanium utilization rates to 55% and 45% respectively, attract at least RMB40 billion (USD5.96 billion) in new investment, and grow the industry's total output to RMB200 billion (USD29.80 billion) during the 15th Five Year Plan period.
Panzhihua already produces 19% of China's vanadium and 70% of its titanium concentrate. Utilisation rates have climbed from 37% and 22% in 2013 to 50% and 35% today, with output nearing RMB60 billion (USD8.94 billion).
To hit its targets, the city will invest RMB200 million (USD29.80 million) with local firms on over 20 exploration projects, develop the Hongge South Mine, and aim for 30 million tonnes of vanadium titanium concentrate and 6 million tonnes of titanium concentrate annually by 2030. Major projects include a 60,000tpy energy grade titanium alloy facility and high value products like chlorination process titanium dioxide, specialty steels, and vanadium containing wear resistant materials.
