ACG Metals has achieved a major milestone with the production of its first copper concentrate from the Gediktepe mine in Turkey, signaling the company's shift away from precious metals and zinc as it works toward full production by the end of 2026.
The copper concentrate was produced in line with budget, according to the company, which has set a target of 40,000 tonnes of annual copper output once the operation reaches steady-state levels.
With global demand for copper continuing to rise, Gediktepe is now entering its ramp-up phase, with a focus on boosting throughput and fine-tuning plant performance.
Originally a single-stream operation producing gold, silver, and zinc, the mine is now pivoting to copper production amid surging demand driven by artificial intelligence, electrification, and other emerging technologies.
