Japan's cold-rolled steel strip shipments rise 5.5% in June 2026

Japan's cold-rolled (CR) steel sheet and strip shipments totaled 384,063 metric tons in June 2026, representing a 5.5% increase compared with the previous month and a 6.1% rise year-on-year, according to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Of the total shipments, 49.4% were directed to the domestic market, while the remaining 50.6% were allocated to export destinations.
Inventories of cold-rolled sheet and strip stood at 651,030 metric tons at the end of June, declining by 2.7% month-on-month and by 0.6% year-on-year. Steel manufacturers accounted for 75.1% of the total inventories, with steel traders holding the remaining 24.9%.
Production of cold-rolled sheet and strip in June reached 365,818 metric tons, reflecting a 6.7% decrease from May but a 1.6% increase compared with the same month last year.
