Chile's copper production from major mining operations posted mixed results in June, with output gains at Escondida and Collahuasi offset by a decline at state-owned Codelco, according to data released Monday by state copper commission Cochilco.
BHP-controlled Escondida, the world's largest copper mine, produced 111,400 metric tons in June, representing a sharp 45.8% increase year-over-year. Meanwhile, the Collahuasi mine-jointly owned by Anglo American and Glencore-delivered 34,900 metric tons, a modest rise of 1.7%.
In contrast, output from state-run Codelco fell 4.8% to 114,400 tons, underscoring the mixed performance across Chile's key copper operations during the month.
