Metinvest reports higher pig iron and crude steel output in H1 2026

Ukrainian mining and steelmaking group Metinvest has released its operational results for the first half of the year.
During the period, the company's total crude steel production reached 1.03 million metric tonnes, reflecting a 13.0% increase year-on-year. Pig iron output rose by 18.0% compared to the same period last year, totaling 934,000 metric tonnes.
In the first half, Metinvest's merchant semi-finished product output amounted to 357,000 metric tonnes, up 19.0% year-on-year, while finished steel production increased by 6.0% to 1.30 million metric tonnes. Within the finished steel category, flat steel production edged down by 1.0% to 545,000 metric tonnes, whereas long steel production grew by 6.0% to 717,000 metric tonnes, both on a year-on-year basis.
On the mining side, the company's total iron ore concentrate production remained largely stable year-on-year at 7.76 million metric tonnes. However, pellet production declined by 17.0% year-on-year to 2.72 million metric tonnes.
