Vietnam's steel consumption posts double-digit growth in H1 2026

Vietnam's steel market continued to register strong growth in the first half of 2026, driven by a recovery in domestic demand fueled by public investment, infrastructure development, and the real estate sector, according to the Vietnam Steel Association.
Finished steel production reached 18.21 million tonnes, marking a 15.1% increase year-on-year, while sales volumes rose by 14.2% to 17.95 million tonnes.
In the first six months of the year, the country's crude steel output totaled 15.18 million tonnes, up 26.9% compared to the same period last year. Crude steel consumption climbed 25.5% to 14.81 million tonnes, while crude steel exports amounted to nearly 1.7 million tonnes, reflecting a 5.3% year-on-year increase.
