India's Tata Steel Limited has approved a capital expenditure of $3.54 billion for its subsidiary Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), which operates a steel mill in the eastern state of Odisha, the company announced in a statement on Friday, July 31.
The investment will be directed toward expanding NINL's capacity by 4.8 million metric tons per annum, bringing the plant's total capacity to 6.3 million metric tons. This expansion will raise Tata Steel's overall operational capacity in India to 27.4 million metric tons annually, advancing the company toward its long-term target of 40 million metric tons per year, the firm added.
