Qiya Aluminum unveils capacity replacement plan for 400ktpy primary aluminum project

On July 29, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region published a public notice regarding the capacity replacement plan for the 400,000tpy green and low carbon series II primary aluminum project of Xinjiang Qiya Aluminum and Electric Co., Ltd. The public comment period runs from July 29 to August 12.
The project will be located in Zhundong-Xinjiang Economic & Technological Development Zone, and will install 266 units of 600kA electrolytic cells, with construction scheduled to begin in July 2026 and commissioning planned for September 2027.
As part of the capacity replacement, 320 units of 500kA electrolytic cells, equivalent to 400,000tpy capacity, will be dismantled from September 2027.
