State-owned Indian steelmaker Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and Indonesia's Krakatau Steel have finalized an investment plan valued at $350 million to construct a stainless steel slab plant in Indonesia, according to industry sources on Wednesday, July 29.
The proposed stainless steel mill is expected to have an installed capacity of 500,000 metric tons and is targeted to become operational within three to four years, the sources added.
Earlier this month, SAIL and Krakatau Steel signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture for the production of stainless steel slabs in Indonesia.
