Italian crude steel output rises 6.1% year-on-year in June 2026

According to the latest data released by Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies, crude steel production in Italy totaled 1.9 million metric tons in June 2026, down from 2.0 million metric tons in May, but up 6.1% compared to the same month last year. In the first half of this year, Italian crude steel production increased by 3.5% year-on-year to 11.5 million metric tons.
In terms of product categories, monthly output of long products reached 1.1 million metric tons in June, rising 5.4% year-on-year, while flat product output totaled 780,000 metric tons, up 7.7% from a year earlier. During the January–June period, Italian long steel production amounted to 6.9 million metric tons, exceeding the year-ago level by 7.8%, whereas Italian flat steel production declined by 5.4% year-on-year to 4.6 million metric tons.
