South Africa launches anti-dumping probe into Chinese flat-rolled steel

The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into certain flat-rolled steel products imported from China.
The application was filed by ArcelorMittal South Africa Limited (AMSA), the sole producer of these goods within the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) region. The company submitted evidence indicating that Chinese imports are entering the local market at dumped prices, inflicting material harm on the domestic industry.
The investigation covers cold-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy steel, and other alloy steel, whether or not in coil form. Eligible products include cut-to-length items with a width of 600 millimeters or more that are not clad, plated, or coated. These subject goods fall under HS codes 7209.16, 7209.17, 7209.18, and 7225.50.
The scope of the probe excludes stainless steel and grain-oriented silicon electrical steel.
