Nantong branch of Zhongtian Steel completes capacity replacement for premium green steel project

On July 13, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Jiangsu Province publicly announced the execution status of the capacity replacement plan for the electric-arc furnace (EAF) short-process premium green steel project of Zhongtian Steel Group (Nantong) Co., Ltd.
The project entails the retirement of two 50-tonne steelmaking converters (with a combined capacity of 1,100,000tpy) from Wuxi Xinsanzhou Special Steel Co., Ltd., along with the remaining 42,500tpy of steelmaking capacity from Zhongtian Steel Group Co., Ltd. These retired capacities are replaced--on a 1.5:1 reduction basis--by one 100-tonne EAF with a capacity of 750,000tpy. The remaining 17,500tpy of steelmaking capacity are retained by the company as a reserve.
Following on-site verification conducted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, in coordination with Nantong municipal authorities, a third-party evaluation team, and industry experts, the newly constructed 100-tonne EAF was confirmed to meet all regulatory requirements. The facility's location, company name, equipment model, quantity, and capacity are all fully consistent with the approved replacement plan. The retired equipment has been dismantled and is no longer capable of resuming production.
