Western Gold announced on June 29 that two of its wholly-owned subsidiaries operating core manganese mines in Xinjiang have officially suspended operations to address multiple safety hazards identified during internal inspections. The rectification period is expected to last no more than 30 days.
The two affected subsidiaries are Akto Baiyuanfeng Mining Co., Ltd. and Xinjiang Mengxin Tianba Mining Investment Co., Ltd. Baiyuanfeng has halted all production lines for the overhaul, while Mengxin Tianba has only suspended underground mining operations--its ore processing and beneficiation facilities continue to operate normally.
