Chile's May copper output plunges across major producers

Chile's copper production from major miners fell sharply by 12.9% year-on-year to 423,623 metric tons in May, according to data released on Friday by state copper commission Cochilco. State-owned Codelco saw output drop 18.3% to 106,300 metric tons.
Production at BHP-controlled Escondida, the world's largest copper mine, declined 17.6% to 108,800 metric tons, while output at the Collahuasi mine fell 19.3% to 31,000 metric tons.
