  • Vedanta Aluminium reports record Q1 FY27 output of 632 kt; alumina production jumps 41% YoY

    Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited has announced its highest-ever quarterly aluminium production, reaching 632 kilotonnes (kt) for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026.Asian Metal Copyright Alumina production stood at 826 kt, registering a sharp 41% surge year-on-year, driven largely by increased volumes from capacity expansion.Asian Metal Copyright This marks a 5% increase year-on-year and a 3% rise compared to the previous quarter, supported by output from a new smelter and enhanced operational efficiency across existing production lines.

    Value-added product volumes also hit a record high of 389 kt, reflecting a 14% increase year-on-year and a 4% sequential improvement, underscoring the company's strategic focus on optimizing its product mix. While Vedanta's demerger officially took effect on May 1, 2026, the reported figures encompass the full quarter ending June 30, 2026.

    Alumina production stood at 826 kt, registering a sharp 41% surge year-on-year, driven largely by increased volumes from capacity expansion. However, output declined 6% sequentially due to unscheduled shutdowns during the quarter.

    Breaking down the aluminium output, the Jharsuguda plant contributed 464 kt, while BALCO produced 168 kt-including 24 kt from trial runs at the new smelter facility.
