Global primary aluminum market posts deficit of 145,100 tons in April

The global primary aluminum market recorded a supply shortfall of 145,100 tons in April 2026, according to the latest data released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS). Monthly global production totaled 6,077,300 tons, while consumption reached 6,222,400 tons.
Over the January–April period, the cumulative deficit stood at 441,700 tons, with total output of 24,173,200 tons and demand of 24,614,900 tons.
On the raw materials and secondary production front, global bauxite extraction amounted to 21,763,400 tons in April, bringing the four-month total to 142,572,500 tons. Alumina production registered 12,257,800 tons for the month and 49,332,200 tons for the year-to-date.
Recycled aluminum output came in at 2,132,800 tons in April and 8,570,700 tons for the January–April period.
