TCUD: Turkey's crude steel production rises in January-April 2026

According to a statement released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkey-the world's seventh-largest steelmaking country-produced 3.29 million metric tonnes of crude steel in April this year, an increase of 9.4% year on year. In the first four months of 2026, crude steel output rose by 6.3% year on year to 13.04 million metric tonnes.
In April, Turkey's billet and slab production amounted to 1.94 million metric tonnes and 1.34 million metric tonnes, respectively, up 3.5% and 19.2% year on year. During the January–April period, billet production totaled 7.69 million metric tonnes, down 0.4%, while slab production reached 5.34 million metric tonnes, up 17.6%, both compared to the same period in 2025.
Finished steel consumption in Turkey rose by 12.0% year on year to 3.34 million metric tonnes in April. Over the January–April period, finished steel consumption increased by 9.7% year on year to 13.22 million metric tonnes.
