Indonesia plans to place ferronickel and certain other nickel products under state-managed export controls, with full implementation scheduled for September 1, 2026.
Following an announcement by President Prabowo Subianto, officials stated that state-owned company PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI) could become the sole exporter of selected commodities, including ferroalloys.
Under the phased plan, exporters will gradually transition transaction reporting, foreign exchange settlements, and new export contracts to the state system beginning in June 2026.
Starting in September, DSI is expected to assume full control over export negotiations, shipping, customs clearance, payments, and settlements.
