The Dominican Republic's Commission on Unfair Trade Practices and Safeguard Measures has launched a second sunset review of the anti-dumping (AD) measure on imports of corrugated or deformed steel bars used for concrete reinforcement-commonly known as rebar-originating from China.
The review covers an investigation period from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2025. The request for this review was submitted by local steel producers Metaldom, S.A. and Ecoacero, S.R.L.
The original AD case began in January 2016, leading to the imposition of a 43% duty in January 2017 for a five-year term. Authorities maintained the 43% duty during the first sunset review, which was completed in January 2022, extending the trade protection measure for another five years.
The affected products fall under HS codes 7214.10.00, 7214.20.00, 7214.30.00, and 7214.99.00.
