BlueScope begins commissioning new metal coating line at Erskine Park

Australian steelmaker BlueScope has announced that commissioning is now underway for its new Metal Coating Line Number 7 (MCL7) at Erskine Park, New South Wales. This milestone marks a key step in the company's ongoing push to invest in Australian manufacturing.
The A$415 million project is expected to add 240,000 metric tonnes per year of additional ZINCALUME? steel capacity, according to BlueScope. The new line will enhance the company's metal coating capabilities and support growth in premium products such as TRUECORE? steel and COLORBOND? steel. Located at BlueScope's Western Sydney Service Centre, MCL7 is currently in the commissioning phase, with operations expected to ramp up through the course of 2026.
