Feralpi Stahl, a German rebar mill owned by Italy's Feralpi Group, is expanding its annual steel production capacity at the Riesa facility from 1 million tons to 1.3 million tons. The increase is supported by a new rolling mill built by Danieli, which was launched last May and is currently operating on a two-shift schedule.
Performance testing is ongoing, and the company expects to receive the final equipment acceptance certificate this summer.
The new rolling mill produces rebar in coils, with an annual target output of 400,000 to 450,000 tons. Depending on market trends, Feralpi Stahl plans to transition to a three-shift operation by 2027.
CEO Uwe Reinecke stated that production targets are in line with projections and that the new products are steadily gaining market share. He also confirmed that the company intends to continue investing in its scrap processing operations.
