On May 25, the Ministry of Natural Resources held a national deployment and mobilization meeting to launch the dynamic update of national mineral resources inventory for the 15th Five-Year Plan.
The meeting noted that this initiative is essential to implement the newly revised Mineral Resources Law and its implementation regulations, and improve mineral administration. It serves as a key measure to optimize resource allocation and boost mineral reserves and output, and carries great significance for the mineral exploration breakthrough strategy during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The update mainly targets large and medium-sized mines of strategic minerals, while also covering small-scale mines. In principle, surveyed mines account for over 80% of the country's total mineral resources. The work covers ten major tasks: dynamic assessment of mineral potential, annual update of mine conditions, re-evaluation of associated, low-grade and hard-to-exploit resources, general survey of residual resources, quarterly statistics of newly added reserves, assessment of energy resource bases and national planned mining areas, and refined evaluation of coal availability, among others.
