The Canadian government has pledged more than C$8.1 million to sustain trade and steel manufacturing in Saskatchewan, responding to global trade turbulence and mounting tariff pressures.
The support, channelled through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, allocates C$5.1 million to the Saskatchewan Trade & Export Partnership (STEP) to help businesses strengthen domestic trade and diversify into new international markets.
Three steel manufacturers based in and around Regina--DynaIndustrial GP Inc., Dutch Industries Ltd. and Hi-Tec Profiles Inc.--will each receive C$1 million to expand capacity, boost productivity and broaden their export reach.
The funding will be delivered as non-repayable tariff relief.
