Two international standards for all-vanadium flow batteries, jointly compiled by Dalian Rongke Power and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, have passed IEC review and multinational voting, gaining official approval for initiation.
Covering core segments of the industry, the two standards address the lack of unified global specifications. IEC 63686, General Requirements and Test Methods for Vanadium Flow Battery Stacks, sets universal technical criteria and testing rules for battery stacks. IEC 62932-4-2, Test Methods for Electrolyte of Vanadium Flow Batteries, fills the void in international testing standards for vanadium electrolyte and standardizes terminology, performance and safety requirements.
