China's crude steel output falls 4.1% YoY in first four months

In April 2026, China produced 70.69 million tonnes of pig iron, down 3.6% YoY, 83.63 million tonnes of crude steel, down 2.8% YoY, and 122.63 million tonnes of finished steel products, down 1.7% YoY, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
From January to April, pig iron output declined 3.1% YoY to 282.28 million tonnes, while crude steel production decreased 4.1% YoY to 331.12 million tonnes. The output of finished steel products declined 1.3% YoY to around 471.94 million tonnes.
