Julin New Materials to develop phosphate mining project

Yunnan Yuntianhua Co., Ltd. recently announced that its subsidiary, Yunnan Yuntianhua Julin New Materials Co., Ltd., plans to invest in a phosphate mining project with an annual capacity of 10 million tonnes. The total investment is estimated at RMB8.17 billion (USD1.20 billion). Construction is expected to begin in December 2026, with an estimated development period of five years.
Julin New Materials secured the mining rights for the Wanchang phosphate mine in Zhenxiong County, Yunnan Province in December 2025. As of February 2025, the mining area had identified total resources of 2.44 billion tonnes, with an average phosphate ore grade of 22.54%.
The project has been designated as one of Yunnan Province's first batch of major projects for 2026. It is expected to leverage local resource advantages to drive high-quality industrial development.
