Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hunan Valin Steel Co.,Ltd., plans to carry out a quality and capacity upgrade project for its No. 7 blast furnace and supporting systems, including sintering facilities, at a cost of RMB768 million (USD113 million). The construction period is set at 10 months.
The No. 7 blast furnace has reached the end of its campaign life, and the upgrade is intended to address existing equipment risks and safety concerns. The furnace is scheduled to be taken offline for 65 days starting in late December 2026, resulting in an estimated reduction of 600,000 tonnes of hot metal output, primarily affecting the first quarter of 2027.
