Research on copper industry in Northwest Queensland started

A study examining the long-term outlook for North West Queensland's copper sector has commenced, forming part of the joint Queensland-Commonwealth support package for Glencore's Mount Isa Copper Smelter and Townsville Copper Refinery.
The review will map the copper value chain across the North West Minerals Province--stretching from Mount Isa to Townsville--and identify opportunities for the smelter, refinery, workforce, and related industries beyond the current support horizon.
The final report is to be delivered to government by the end of 2026.
