  • Larvotto reports high antimony recovery from Hillgrove tailings

    2026-05-15 14:53:25   [Print]
Larvotto Resources announced on May 14, 2026 that initial metallurgical flotation testwork on material from tailings storage facility 1 (TSF1) at its wholly-owned Hillgrove antimony-gold project in New South Wales has delivered promising results.

The company reported antimony recovery rates ranging from 80% to 95% from the TSF1 tailings, confirming that residual antimony contained within the roughly 1.4-million-tonne legacy tailings deposit can be effectively recovered using the same conventional flotation methods planned for the Hillgrove processing plant, which is on track to begin production in August 2026.

TSF1 holds tailings accumulated over approximately two decades from a previous plant originally designed for antimony recovery. As a result, the material also contains notable quantities of gold and tungsten alongside minor antimony content.

The positive tailings results follow last year's metallurgical breakthrough, when Larvotto achieved 90% tungsten recovery with a 16-fold increase in feed grade, demonstrating that a straightforward and cost-effective processing circuit could produce a saleable tungsten concentrate.
