Jubilee Metals Group PLC announced on Wednesday a sharp increase in copper production during the first nine months of its financial year, supported by progress in its new strategic direction.
The London-based metals processing company has shifted its focus to copper operations in Zambia following the sale of its chrome and platinum group metals businesses in South Africa, which was completed in late February.
For the nine months ending March 31, saleable copper production rose 29% year-on-year, reaching 2,177 tonnes compared to 1,691 tonnes in the same period a year earlier.
Jubilee noted that the commissioning of the expanded Roan copper concentrator plant is nearing completion, with the ramp-up of dewatered fine copper concentrate production currently underway this month.
The copper producer also reported continued expansion at the Molefe copper mine, where 250,162 tonnes of ore were mined during the nine-month period. Of that total, 20,064 tonnes were transported to the Sable Refinery.
Although heavy rainfall caused operational disruptions at Molefe, Jubilee stated that momentum remains strong as it advances the mine plan and targets higher production levels.
The company said its annual copper production guidance for the 2026 financial year is currently under review.
In late March, Jubilee had projected annual production of between 4,500 tonnes and 5,100 tonnes for the financial year ending June 30, up sharply from 2,211 tonnes in the previous year.
