Metro Mining reports strong year-on-year production growth at Bauxite Hills

In April 2026, Metro Mining mined 563,000 wet metric tonnes at its Bauxite Hills Mine in North Queensland, marking a 33% increase compared to the same month last year.
The company noted that this was a particularly strong performance, especially given the disruption caused by tropical cyclone Narelle. In preparation for higher shipping volumes following the return of the offshore floating terminal, Ikamba, Metro has been building up its stockpile.
Meanwhile, bauxite shipments totaled 416,000 wet metric tonnes, a 2% year-on-year decline. Metro Mining stated that this still represents a solid result, as shipping operations were limited to a single-transhipper setup during Ikamba's drydock period.
Despite recent disruptions, Metro Mining has maintained its 2026 shipment guidance of 6.6 to 7.1 million tonnes. The company said this reflects its confidence in meeting annual export targets.
