JFE Steel Corporation and JSW Steel Limited have officially established JSW JFE Steel Limited, a 50:50 joint venture centered around an integrated steel plant in Odisha, India.
Finalized on March 30, 2026, the partnership aims to capitalize on India's surging steel demand by combining JFE's technical expertise with JSW's operational strengths. The joint venture, which includes production sites in Sambalpur, Kolkata, and Chandigarh, has an annual crude steel capacity of 4.5 million metric tons. The facility produces a range of flat and long steel products for the automotive and construction sectors.
Strategically located near key iron ore mines, the plant also benefits from well-developed rail and road infrastructure. This positioning ensures strong raw material security and cost advantages, supporting JFE's long-term goal of expanding its international business earnings.
