Blue Moon Metals approved construction of its $184 million Nussir copper-gold-silver mine in northern Norway this week and moved closer to restarting the Springer tungsten mine in Nevada.
The decision, announced Monday, is paired with a C$150 million equity raise to fund construction and aims to transition the company from developer to builder. It locks in a 13-year mine plan for Nussir, a 6,000-tonne-per-day underground operation located approximately 1,400 kilometers north of Oslo. First production is targeted for the third quarter of 2027.
Nussir is expected to provide the company's overarching development strategy with its first reliable source of cash flow. A feasibility study released this month shows the project contains 28.72 million measured and indicated tonnes grading 1.02% copper, 0.12 grams per tonne gold, and 12.3 grams per tonne silver, translating to an average copper-equivalent grade of 1.2%, according to the study.
Blue Moon aims to produce roughly 19,000 tonnes of concentrate annually, primarily copper, starting in the second half of 2027.
The Springer mine could return to production by the fourth quarter of 2027 following approximately $50 million in restart capital. Internal modeling suggests concentrate output of 107,000 to 124,000 tonnes, which the company says could position Springer as the only major tungsten producer in North America.
