China has wrapped up the feedback stage of the fifth batch of its third-round central environmental protection inspections, with findings delivered to Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei Province, and five major central state-owned enterprises, including China Huadian, China Energy Investment, Ansteel Group, China Baowu Steel Group, and China National Coal Group.
The inspections found that both local governments and SOEs have continued to strengthen their focus on environmental protection, making steady progress in green development and pollution control. At the same time, several issues remain, including the unchecked rollout of high energy-consuming and high-emission ("two-high") projects, slow phase-out of outdated equipment, and unauthorized expansion of steelmaking capacity.
Under regulatory requirements, all inspected entities must submit rectification plans within 45 working days. Authorities will maintain close oversight to ensure corrective measures are fully implemented and deliver tangible results.
