On March 26, Wanji Aluminum (Xinjiang) Co., Ltd. began construction of its 580,000tpa primary aluminum project at Luotuoquanzi Industrial Park in Xinjiang. The project, with a total investment of RMB 4.6 billion (USD665 million), is expected to be completed and operational by July 2027.
The facility will feature advanced 600KA high-capacity aluminum electrolysis cells and graphitized cathodes with embedded copper steel bars. Once commissioned, electricity consumption per tonne of aluminum is projected at 12,430 kWh, placing the project at the forefront of global energy efficiency. A supporting wind farm will enable large-scale green aluminum production.
Upon completion, the project will form a modern aluminum production base, integrating the full industrial chain from alumina to primary aluminum and downstream aluminum products.
