Western Mining reports strong smelting growth in 2025

Western Mining Co., Ltd. posted operating revenue of RMB61.69 billion (USD8.94 billion) in 2025, up 23% YoY and hitting a record high, with the copper segment delivering solid performance.
During the year, mined copper output totaled 167,504 metal tonnes, down 5.63% YoY, while mined zinc output increased 20.26% YoY to 128,795 tonnes, mined lead jumped 16.73% YoY to 62,997 tonnes, and mined molybdenum rose 1.05% YoY to 4,051 tonnes. Iron ore concentrate output stood at 1.41 million tonnes, up 2.10% YoY.
The smelting segment saw strong growth across key products, with refined copper output rising 26.70% YoY to 334,194 tonnes, refined lead surging 330.45% YoY to 154,130 tonnes, and refined zinc jumping 32.61% YoY to 152,059 tonnes. The company's installed annual smelting capacity stands at 350,000 tonnes for copper, 200,000 tonnes each for zinc and lead, and 2,000 tonnes for ammonium metavanadate.
The company also provided 2026 production guidance, targeting 172,026 metal tonnes of mined copper, 63,419 metal tonnes of mined lead, 127,640 metal tonnes of mined zinc, 4,438 metal tonnes of mined molybdenum, 1,579 metal tonnes of mined nickel, and 2.22 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate. Planned smelting output includes 324,372 tonnes of refined copper, 139,736 tonnes of refined lead, and 180,631 tonnes of refined zinc.
