Chengtun Mining delivers strong 2025 results on higher copper output

Chengtun Mining Group Co., Ltd. reported robust financial performance for 2025, with operating revenue rising 16.60% YoY to RMB30 billion (USD4.35 billion), driven primarily by a significant increase in output from its copper mining and smelting operations.
Copper remained the key growth engine during the year. The company produced 207,400 tonnes of copper (contained metal, the same below), up 17.48% YoY, while sales climbed 23.79% YoY to 206,600 tonnes. Revenue from copper products surged 34.20% YoY to RMB14.071 billion (USD2.04 billion).
Nickel also recorded strong growth, with production increasing 50.42% YoY to 49,400 tonnes and sales rising 39.48% YoY to 47,700 tonnes, generating revenue of RMB4.29 billion (USD622 million), up 13.16% YoY. Zinc output and sales edged up by 1.11% and 1.21% YoY to 326,300 tonnes and 325,700 tonnes, respectively.
In contrast, cobalt production declined to 9,203 tonnes, down 30.58% YoY, while sales fell 50.43% YoY to 5,810 tonnes, resulting in revenue of RMB1.01 billion (USD147 million), a decrease of 30.64% from the previous year.
By the end of 2025, Chengtun Mining's total annual copper production capacity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) reached 230,000 tonnes of contained metal. The Phase II expansion of the BMS copper smelting project in DRC was completed during the year, lifting its capacity to 120,000 tonnes per annum, with full-year output totaling 106,300 tonnes.
Looking ahead, the company outlined its 2026 production targets, aiming to produce 230,000 tonnes of copper, 15,000 tonnes of cobalt, 60,000 tonnes of nickel, and 300,000 tonnes of zinc.
