Major Chinese steel mills produced around 18.22 million tonnes of finished steel during the first ten-day period of January 2026, with the daily average output of 1,822,000 tonnes, down by 3.7% from late December 2025, according to China Iron & Steel Association (CISA).
By the end of the period, finished steel inventories at major mills stood at 15.04 million tonnes, an increase of 900,000 tonnes, or 6.4%, from late last month.
