China's foreign trade tops 45 trillion yuan for the first time

According to the General Administration of Customs, China's total import and export of goods reached RMB45.47 trillion (USD6.47 trillion) in 2025, up 3.8% year on year, marking the ninth consecutive year of growth since 2017 and setting an all-time high.
Exports totaled RMB26.99 trillion (USD3.87 trillion), rising 6.1% YoY, while imports stood at RMB18.48 trillion (USD2.65 trillion), up 0.5% YoY, hitting a historical high.
In December alone, China's foreign trade reached RMB4.26 trillion (USD611 billion), up 4.9% YoY, setting a new monthly record.
Surpassing the 45-trillion-yuan threshold for the first time highlights the resilience of China's foreign trade and further consolidates the country's position as the world's largest trader of goods.
