Henan Iron and Steel Group has commissioned its high magnetic induction grain-oriented electromagnetic material production line at its Anyang base. This is the first full-process line of its kind in Henan Province and makes the company the fourth steelmaker in China with such full-process capability.
The project, with a total investment of RMB1.34 billion (USD189 million), broke ground in July 2024 and was fully completed in September 2025. It is designed with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of normalized pickling and 60,000 tonnes of high magnetic induction grain-oriented electromagnetic materials, also known as silicon steel.
The new production line helps fill gaps in China's high-end electromagnetic material sector, with products widely used in new energy power generation, ultra-high-voltage power grids, and high-efficiency transformers.
