Xinjiang Qiya to add 210ktpa aluminum capacity through replacement

Xinjiang Qiya Aluminum & Electricity Co., Ltd. plans to build 156 units of prebaked anode electrolytic cells (500kA) at Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone, adding 210,000 tonnes per annum of primary aluminum smelting capacity. Construction is slated to begin in September 2025, with production targeted for December 2026, according to a capacity replacement program released by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The project is part of a capacity replacement program recently disclosed by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Under this plan, Yunnan Qiya Metal Co., Ltd. will retire an equivalent 210,000tpa of capacity in 2026.
